Brett started in the funeral industry in December 1998 in Canberra as a Funeral Assistant with William Cole Funerals. Brett undertook a number of AFDA training courses in Mortuary Care as will as FIDA Certificate III in Funeral Services. Brett over this time also trained as a Funeral Arranger and Conductor with Tobin Brothers Funerals Canberra where, he became the Location Manager of the Kingston branch, Brett has also been trained in Military, State Funeral Services as well as overseas repatriations. Brett became one of the most respected Funeral Directors in Canberra amongst his peers and the wider community. Brett along with a fellow staff member created a Motor Vehicle and Funeral Protocol training course for the company in 2008 and was a trainer of new and existing staff.
In 2012 Brett took on the role of Operations Manager and staff trainer for Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma District Funerals, Brett managed the day to day running of this business as well as the Corners transport contract for the Far South Coast Area Command.
In 2019 Brett once again moved his family to Wodonga to take on the role as Manager of John Hossack Funeral Services in Albury. Brett brings a vast amount of experience in funerals of all religious and cultural beliefs to the area.
Brett also has a vast array of interests outside of his career, from family to being a Level 1 BMX coach and being on a number of BMX club and state committees since 2007. Brett is also an active member of the Albury Rotary Club and the Border BMX Club in Wodonga. Brett also enjoys Four Wheel Driving, camping, his two classic cars and of course his grandchildren.
Brett believes in having a strong commitment to the families we serve as well as the community that we live in. Brett believes strongly in transparency within the industry and is always happy to conduct talks about Funerals and the industry with social and community groups as well as conduct funeral home tours to help those that want to develop an understanding of what happens both before and after a funeral and how to prepare.
