Winston and Yin Chin-Lennsays:

Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Kavanagh family.
May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus during this time of grief and sorrow.
”Previous in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”.
Ps Kavanagh was an extraordinary person who has impacted so many lives during his ministry here on earth and we shall be forever grateful to him.
The apostle Paul said in 2Tim 4:7 : ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.’
Ps Pat fought the good fight, he finished the race, and above all he kept the faith….faithful to the very end. What a wonderful reward awaits him !
And heaven will surely echo ‘Well done good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord.’
Thank you Ps Pat for all that you have done for all of us. ….indeed you were a real blessing!

Bruce & Judith Graydensays:

We have wonderful memories of dear Kav, beginning the first time we heard him preach at LSCC in 1969. We literally sat on the edge of our seat as we consumed the average-45 minute sermon from him, week after week. And his teaching about Jeremiah and other books at MBI enlarged the number blessed by his ministry.
We’ll never forget Pat and Betty, nor will we ever forget — and we often use — Kav’s animated expressions such as “What a weariness it is!” (Malachi 1:13) “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep.” (Proverbs 6:10, 24:33) And when Sanballat and Geshem sent Nehemiah this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono”, Nehemiah replied, “Ono!”
He was a wonderful teacher, preacher, mentor and man of God.
We offer our deepest condolences to the Kavanagh family and to all who loved him as we did.

Ben van der Merwesays:

Our condolences to Pat’s family and our appreciation for the wonderful sharing by all at his farewell service which we were only able to attend online.

Pat Kavanagh had the most profound effect on my life and that of my wife Helen. I joined Lygon St church as a 19 year old before Pat came as our pastor. There was just 2 of us in the “youth group” and most others in the church were over 50 years old. Little could we have expected the growth that the church experienced over the next 6 years through Pat’s loving ministry. Pat was the most encouraging and thoughtful person and was open enough to transition the church from a conservative affluent base to a diverse mixture of young, old, rich and poor and from many cultures. Love bound us together with the weekly bulletin called appropriately “The Friend”. But the greatest hope Pat shared was the gospel message that always gave the lowest person a chance to start again. He would often say “it’s never to late the mend” and it enabled many to break away from their shackles and find freedom in Christ.

Our love and thanks for a life well lived.

Geoffrey and Sherylyne Moransays:

We loved Pat and Betty, so sadly missed yet with the Lord celebrating for all eternity. With much love Geoffrey and Sherylyne Moran

The way he influenced so many lives with his unwavering faith in God was truly wonderful.

He is now in heaven with his heavenly father and the love of his life our mum Betty.
Enjoy Dad,
Geoff.
